General
The India Portfolio is an AI-powered deals platform that helps Indian companies identify and execute M&A opportunities that truly align with their strategy and stage. Instead of you relying on random inbound deals or intermediaries with misaligned incentives, we get you the right targets or buyers, based on your company's ambitions.
Built on top of a directory of 350+ VC & PE funds and their 5,000+ Indian portfolio companies, our proprietary algorithms evaluate thousands of potential combinations in each sector, to highlight the most attractive M&A ideas for you.
The deals platform is built for CXOs, corporate strategy & corporate development teams, board members and anyone involved in driving your company's M&A strategy.
The directory is designed for investors, bankers, analysts and anyone looking for clean and useful data on India's VC/PE ecosystem.

Deal Engine and M&A
Our Deal Engine uses our proprietayr AI-powered alogrithms to analyze thousands of possible company pairings sector-by-sector, to identify combinations that make strategic sense. It evaluates four primary factors:
* Business fit - whether the buyer's and target's products, offerings, or value propositions are meaningfully connected or adjacent,
* Synergies - operational or strategic benefits that make the combination incrementally stronger than the standalone entities.
* Meaningfulness - whether the scale, stage, and market presence of both companies result in a materially significant outcome, rather than a minor acquihire or tuck-in.
* Market need - whether the combined entity would address unmet demand or create a competitive advantage.
Only combinations that score well across these dimensions are surfaced as deal ideas.
Our experience shows that the Deal Engine typically surfaces up to five high-quality deal ideas per company in each direction - whether as a buyer or as a target. The goal is to provide you the absolute best ideas instead of a long list of mostly weak or speculative matches. Good deal ideas are never too many and we have done enough M&A ourselves to know and respect that.
Our Deal Engine is sector and stage-agnostic. It evaluates combinations across 35+ sectors and covering every deal situation from early-stage M&A to F500 consolidation. There are no restrictions on deal size, company maturity, or industry - if a combination makes strategic sense based on business fit, synergies, meaningfulness and market need, it is considered.
The only current constraint is that deal ideas are generated from within the companies present in our directory. This ensures that the ideas are based on high-quality and vetted data from our platform and avoids speculative matches based on unreliable sources.
The deal ideas are designed to initiate an M&A discussion between the buyer and the target and meant for the consumption of the decision makers in those organizations.
Please note that the strategic rationale and benefits that you currently see in the Deals section are a short portion of the overall deal ideas memo. Additional details in the memo include descriptions of the buyer and target businesses, evaluation of the deal idea across the four key criteria described earlier, potential deal risks, etc. The whole memo is not available for free.
The deal ideas memo should not be used as final deal advice as it does not cover other vital considerations such as financial forecasts, valuation, bid strategy, diligence findings, etc. which cannot be prepared without deep access to non-public information. If you wish to progress a deal, you can engage us for advisory support. We can run the deal process end-to-end, coordinate with diligence and legal advisors, and prepare all deal collateral and decision materials, including market assessments, valuation, financial models, diligence findings and rectification plans, post-merger integration plans, earnout structures and more.
We are different in three ways -
* High Quality Ideas - Any deal idea that our Deal Engine surfaces has been rigorously evaluated across multiple strategic criteria, described earlier. This results in a short but highly attractive list of deal ideas.
* Sector and Stage Agnostic - We are not focused on only certain sectors or deal sizes. We have executed deals across a range of industry sectors and deal sizes and are able to draw on that expertise to provide deal ideas that are suited to every strategy and stage.
* Tailored for Indian Companies - our platform is specifically designed to address the unique dynamics of the Indian market, with deep data on local VC/PE funds and their portfolio companies, ensuring relevance and applicability.
Data & Coverage
We collect data from publicly available sources including company/fund websites, press releases, news articles, regulatory filings, etc. We use AI-assisted extraction to convert unstructured sources into clean, consistent fields.
The directory is updated on a rolling monthly schedule, covering new investments, exits, fundraising events, acquisitions, etc. Material developments reported publicly may be added sooner on a mid-cycle basis.
We aim for accuracy and perform verification using publicly available records wherever possible. Since some fields rely on website content or market-reported information, absolute precision cannot be guaranteed, but we incorporate user-submitted corrections quickly to maintain data quality.
Yes. Whenever such events are publicly reported, they are integrated into fund profiles and company profiles as part of our recurring update cycle.
Each fund profile includes information such as investment strategy, stage focus, sector focus, ticket size ranges (where disclosed), AUM or fund size details, fundraising milestones, Indian portfolio companies, and key status updates including new fund launches or closes.
A company profile typically shows sector classification, website, company names & aliases, a LLM friendly business description, key investors with links to their fund profiles, comparable peer companies, and status markers such as active, public, acquired, etc.
